Introduction of Beijing Hospitality Institute
Jointly founded by Beijing International Studies University（BISU）and Beijing Tourism Group, R&F Beijing Properties Co., Ltd., Beijing Longxi Hotspring Resort and Betung Investment Ltd., Beijing Hospitality Institute（BHI） is a common undergraduate higher education institution (independent college) featured by hospitality management teaching. Beijing Hospitality Institute was established with the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China in May 2008. Relying on the high quality educational resources of BISU, it fully introduced the school-running concepts, talent cultivation mode and course system of Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne（EHL） to form the hospitality management talent cultivation mode with Chinese characteristics.
The guidelines of BHI are to cultivate secondary and senior international practical talents with leadership, ability of organization, operation and application research, team-work and commitment spirit, multi-cultural awareness and open mind, who can adapt well to the new environment and challenges, by highlighting the cultivation of ability of operation and practical academic research with advanced school-running concepts and an open international vision, closely relying on relevant enterprises to run a school cooperatively and exploring the school-enterprise cooperative management mode and running mechanism.
In order to achieve the innovation of its hospitality management major and improve its core competitive force, at the early stage BHI will take hospitality management as its characteristic brand and form rapidly its hospitality management talent cultivation mode with Chinese characteristics by right of the professional teaching mode of EHL and its influence force in the industry. According to the Long-term Consulting Service Agreement between EHL and BHI, the former will provide the latter with academic support, training of the management team and teachers and its course system. Therefore BHI has built its high-standard hotel for internship purpose according to the mode of EHL; the consultants from EHL will track the whole course of the teaching for hospitality management major; in their third or fourth year, the students can apply for studying at EHL; and BHI will have the right to share the resources of teaching and practice in the global hotels of EHL.
Relying on the senior teachers resources of BISU, experts and scholars in the circle of tourism education and professionals in the industry circle, BHI has engaged some elite from domestic and international famous hotel groups to undertake the practical courses and the teaching of lecture-type courses. According to the market demands for high-grade hospitality management talents, BHI will cultivate international practical professionals to make the students communicate fluently in foreign languages, understand the background of international hospitality industry, be familiar with the running mechanism of international hospitality industry, be able to participate in the multi-level international exchanges of the field and apply their knowledge and skills in practical operation in a creative way. BHI is aiming to become a hospitality management institute which is the best in China and leading in Asia, and an industry-certified and internationally well-known base for hospitality management & training and an authentication center in around 10 years.
The campus of BHI is located at Panggezhuang, Daxing District, Beijing, with the Jingkai Expressway accessible to the school. BHI is convenient in traffic, peaceful in environment with garden water-system running through with simple and decent architectural style. The campus covers an area of 300 mu and is composed of teaching administration area and living & services area. BHI boasts advanced teaching facilities, perfect living and service facilities, reasonable campus network layout and complete security facilities.
